Aston Villa showed just how dominant they can be under Dean Smith yesterday as they managed to get the better of a very impressive Bristol City side at Villa Park.
The Villans are in a very promising position in the race for a play-off spot having won their last eight games in the Championship, so they’ll be looking to go one better than last season.
What’s the News?
It appears as if Smith has his eye on someone ahead of the summer transfer window, as according to The Mirror, Aston Villa are thought to be interested in Brentford’s Neal Maupay.
The Frenchman has established himself as one of the most dangerous strikers in the Championship this season, producing 23 goals and seven assists. And, he’s grabbed three goals in his last three games.
Tammy Abraham is set to return to his parent club in the summer, so perhaps Maupay will replace him.
The Brentford man has done enough to suggest he belongs in the Premier League so things could work out perfectly if Villa manage to secure promotion via the play-offs.
Maupay is exactly what Smith needs at Villa Park as Tammy Abraham will leave a huge void once his loan deal expires in the Midlands. Indeed, the 22-year-old has been on the same level as the Englishman in the current campaign, so Villa fans will have nothing to worry about if Smith lands his man.
Of course, the forward will no doubt attract a hefty fee in the summer transfer window, but that won’t be too much of a worry for the likes of Wes Edens and Nassef Sawiris.
Aston Villa fans, do you think Maupay has what it takes to replace Abraham? Join in with the discussion below by sharing your thoughts with us.
