Jack Grealish has spoken about the atmosphere at Villa Park during Aston Villa’s 2-0 victory over Everton, as shown on the club’s official channels.
As well as revealing some of the new lads’ surprise at how good the atmosphere during that game was, the 24-year-old also stated that the push it gives the players can help them earn a victory against West Ham United on Monday night.
“A few of the lads have said to me they could not believe the atmosphere against Everton. I knew Villa Park would be like that. We need the same on Monday”, he said.
Villa got 11 wins, eight draws and four losses at home in the Championship last season, as per Transfermarkt, averaging 0.26 more points per game than they got away.
Therefore, it should perhaps not be a surprise that their first league win of the season came in an electric evening at Villa Park.
The players showed brilliant resilience to get three points from the game, having had just 35.2% of the game’s overall possession, while they also had fewer shots, dribbles and corners than Everton throughout the game, as per WhoScored.
Making the most of the home advantage is definitely something Villa should be looking to do this season, as they aim to make an impact in the Premier League.
West Ham should be a big test of this, as they have gone unbeaten in their last three games, so it will be interesting to see who comes out on top on Monday night.
