Manchester United’s potential summer move for Aston Villa captain Jack Grealish could be determined by the future of Paul Pogba, according to a report.
Villa fan favourite Grealish has been in superb form this season, contributing to his team’s cause with an impressive seven goals and six assists in the Premier League. Dean Smith’s side currently sit 19th in the Premier League table and in need of some wins to avoid relegation if the season resumes.
With United keen on the 24-year-old playmaker, there has been much talk about his future with a potential place in Gareth Southgate’s England side also being discussed. With such reports linking him with a move to Old Trafford, The Athletic have now reported that any potential bid from the Red Devils will depend on the future of Pogba.
United’s number one target is reported to be Jadon Sancho of Borussia Dortmund, however, a move for Grealish is expected if Pogba opts to leave the club this summer and United can cash in on the French World Cup winner.
Villa have recently set an £80m price tag on Grealish in a bid to ward off any potential bids this summer but his future could be largely dependent on whether they retain their Premier League status.
Pogba, who has been much-maligned during his second spell at Old Trafford, will likely receive transfer interest this summer given his reputation, but exactly how much any potential interested clubs would spend on him is unknown.
Should the former Juventus man opt to remain in Manchester, Grealish could be looking elsewhere to enhance his future and that could open up the door for the likes of Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal to potentially emerge as interested parties.
