Aston Villa make reported approach for Andrea Stramaccioni

The rumours surrounding Steve Bruce’s future at Aston Villa do not look likely to disappear anytime soon.

According to a report by Gazzetta dello Sport, the club’s hierarchy is thought to have made fresh contact with Andrea Stramaccioni.

It is understood that the directors have been in talks with the former Inter Milan manager once again about the possibility of taking over at Villa Park.

It is believed the Championship outfit had been in contact with the 42-year-old previously about the role and the Italian is still thought to be keen on a move to the West Midlands.

Bruce’s role at the club appears to be coming under increasing pressure as the days go by and their latest defeat to Sheffield Wednesday will not have helped his chances of remaining in the job.

Villa have managed just three wins from their first nine league matches and a number of fans have started to call for his name.

The Verdict:

Bruce’s time at Aston Villa is almost certainly over – as it is a matter of when and not if.

The Championship outfit are currently struggling to put in the desired performances and do not look like a team that will be challenging for promotion in the final stages of the campaign.

However, Stramaccioni will be a huge risk for the Villans to take if they were to hire him. The Italian was sacked from his role at Sparta Prague in March, after failing to lead the team to top spot in a league they were heavily favoured to win.
