Aston Villa monitor Champions League talent as Bruce gets ambitious

According to Bulgarian outlet Sportal, Aston Villa are looking at signing Ludogorets’ Jonathan Cafu and our resident Villans fans here in the Transfer Tavern are hoping he can help them get into the Premier League.

Since Steve Bruce took over at the club from Roberto Di Matteo earlier this season, there has been a real air of optimism around the club and here in the bar that they can return to the top flight.

The Championship is one of the most unpredictable leagues around, of course, and while Villa are well inside the bottom half of the table, they are only a handful of points away from the play-off places

So anything is possible, much to the delight of Midlands drinkers propping up the bar.

It’s evident the club are going to be active in the January transfer window as Bruce begins to properly shape his squad and it seems as though Cafu is one of the names that are going to help him do so.

With that in mind, they are believed to have been monitoring his performances in both the domestic league and Champions League.

The Brazilian has been a feature of the Bulgarian’s Champions League campaign this season, scoring against Arsenal, and has eight goals in 13 appearances in all competitions from his position out on the right wing.
