According to the Birmingham Mail, Aston Villa are thought to still be monitoring the situation of Le Havre defender Harold Moukoudi, but a move to a top flight club in France is more more likely for the 21-year-old, according to his agent.
Moukoudi’s current contract with Ligue 2 side Le Havre is set to expire at the end of this season, leaving the club with little time to cash in on the promising centre-back.
The France under-20 international has been a key figure for Le Havre so far this season, with 19 appearances and two goals in all competitions already under his belt.
The Villans certainly need to bolster their defensive contingent, but may find the lure of top flight football, which may well be offered to Moukoudi by a host of Ligue 1 outfits this month, hard to compete with.
What’s more, Dean Smith would be wise to focus on adding some proven, experienced quality to his squad. Rather than investing in exciting young talents such as Moukoudi, who are talented, but may well still be too raw to be relied upon week in, week out in the Championship.
Villa should give up the chase for Moukoudi now and focus their funds and attentions elsewhere.
