Aston Villa have been really struggling as of late because their drop down the table means they’re seven points away from the play-off places.
It’s definitely a situation they can recover from but, bearing in mind their current form, Aston Villa really need to do some work in the transfer market and fast.
Considering some of the talents they have available to them, it could be said that Dean Smith is really underachieving and that needs fixing quickly.
One area specifically that Villa are really suffering is in defence but with plenty of players available, Villa could find a good solution.
A player who is very good, both at left-back and centre-back, is Bournemouth’s centre-back Tyrone Mings – a player Villa must pursue.
Mings, (who is valued at £3.1 million on Transfermarkt) has rarely been given a chance at Bournemouth this season, after recently coming back from a long injury lay-off.
It’s understandable that since the Englishman has been out of action, the Cherries have found replacements for him and now that Chris Mepham has also signed for Bournemouth as well, the door must really have opened up for Tyrone Mings to leave and find another club.
Clubs (as per Sky Sports) have been quick to register their interest in the 25-year-old but Aston Villa must find a way to get themselves to the front of the cue to sign Mings.
The Englishman is in desperate need of more regular game-time and with the chance to move to Villa Park, he could get that.
Mings was once a £10 million pound signing for Bournemouth, which alone proves he is a good player. He really could get back to his best with a move away from the Vitality Stadium and Aston Villa would be delighted to have him.
