Our Aston Villa fans here in the Transfer Tavern are really eager to see who their side is going to sign in the summer transfer window at the moment.
Of course, it’s not open for business just yet so only speculation can mount but whilst we sift through all the rumours that are floating about at the moment, we should also look at what the club could actually do with.
Indeed, they certainly need to sort out a new goalkeeper for 2017/18 with Sam Johnstone seeing his loan deal finish with the club.
The Englishman did well but has returned to Manchester United and, the feeling is, that if Villa can’t strike a deal to get him in, they’ll have to look elsewhere instead of staying with what they have.
Who they target in that instance, though, remains to be seen but we think that Eldin Jakupovic of Hull City could be worth a punt.
The 32-year-old star enjoyed a decent campaign with the Tigers in the Premier League but that was not enough to keep them up.
He did, however, do enough to suggest he is good enough to play in the top flight and with Villa more likely to earn promotion than Hull in 2017/18, he might fancy jumping ship.
For sure, Hull do seem in the business of selling players as much as they possibly can and so the Villans should look to profit from this situation to bring the experienced stopper in.
