Aston Villa are enduring a dire run of form despite the arrival of manager Dean Smith, who hasn’t yet been given an opportunity to implement his style.
Regardless, Aston Villa need to start putting a string of good performances together, with the quality team of players they have available to them.
With the Villans in 17th place, work needs to be done to get the play-off finalists from last season back up the table and in contention yet again to get back into the big time.
What better way to do that than to spend some money in the transfer window yet again, this time eyeing defenders who can start to ensure the defence stops conceding goals.
Crystal Palace left-back Pape Souare should be considered an option for Villa, due to the Senegalese international barely getting a chance at Selhurst Park.
Souare, who is valued at £3.1 million on Transfermarkt, is also out of contract in the summer and would provide Aston Villa with a cheaper way of luring him to Villa Park.
The 28-year-old has played just 12 minutes of football this season and it seems that his career as a Crystal Palace player is only heading in one direction.
Aston Villa on the other hand, don’t have cover for Neil Taylor and not only that, Pape Souare is good enough to launch substantial pressure on the Welshman to perform well.
He is not valued as a player at Crystal Palace and Aston Villa are a side in need of a player willing to show that he still has a lot to offer, determined to do his best for the club.
