Aston Villa are really struggling and with every game that goes by without a win, the less chance they have of achieving promotion.
Dean Smith lost on return to his old side Brentford and Villa are now seven points away from the play-off places, which may prove to be a challenge too far.
For all the signings they made, Villa would rightly feel disappointed and like last season, they’ve underachieved unless they can put together a brilliant run of form from now until the end of the season.
They must quickly realise the mistakes they’ve made and, thereby, make improvements ahead of next season, where they will again have a massive opportunity over the summer to show their promotion credentials.
Tammy Abraham has been by far Villa’s best player this season but seeing as he’s only on-loan, the English striker is likely to move on and Aston Villa will temporarily at least, be without a proper goal source.
So, in a bid to stop that from happening, Aston Villa must look to sign Burnley forward Matej Vydra, a player known for his goalscoring abilities in the Championship.
Vydra, (who is valued at £9 million on Transfermarkt) would probably admit himself that his move to Burnley has not worked out and whilst it still could, the Czech Republic international may find it more beneficial for his career to move back down to the Championship.
Having started just three times in the Premier League this season, compared to the 34 he got with Derby the season before, the 26-year-olds best decision would probably be to leave.
Aston Villa remain a massive club and although it would be hard to lose Tammy Abraham, Matej Vydra could be the next man in-line to provide the all-important strikes.
