The Aston Villa fans in the Transfer Tavern are hoping and praying that their team will return to the Premier League next season, with their only chance to do so now through the play-offs.
The Villans’ turbulent form has led to the automatic promotion hopefuls having to settle for a play-off spot. This has proven on more than only occasion to be a highly contested couple of games with so much on the line for all of the teams involved.
If they’re promoted to the top flight again next season, Villa have to spend big and wisely on proven Premier League in order to stay there permanently. An ambitious signing our punters would love to see the Midlands giants make would be the acquisition of Stoke City’s Joe Allen. The 28-year-old has shone for the last couple of years in a Potters shirt but with the very likely possibility Stoke will be relegated, Allen (who is valued at £16.2m by Transfermarkt) will be head-hunted by the more illustrious teams in England, with Aston Villa being one of the most historic.
It would by no means be an easy task to secure his signature but after being one of few decent Stoke players this season in his 36 appearances, the Villans should realise this and do all they can in order to bring Allen to Villa Park.
Allen not only has a fantastic passing range but his goalscoring and assisting abilities are some that have to be admired for a central-midfielder. Scoring 4 goals and getting 7 assists this season is just an example of how well Allen can perform and Villa will be hopeful that they can sign the talented Welshman.
