Aston Villa have made a successful start to life under Dean Smith, as was predicted of them.
The former Brentford boss is a terrific manager that has a great squad at his disposal to launch a serious promotion bid with the Villans.
Villa have money, the players and now the quality manager – it seems promotion is now just around the corner.
When looking at the Championship table though, you see Aston Villa currently sitting in 13th place. They had a disruptive summer period and manager Steve Bruce has recently been sacked but most importantly, there are positions in the Aston Villa team that can be improved.
As good a servant Alan Hutton has been for the club, maybe it’s time that the Villans look for someone to take over the Scotsman and who better than Brighton outcast Ezequiel Schelotto.
Schelotto, (who is valued at £4 million on Transfermarkt) made 24 appearances for Brighton last season but this campaign was left out of their Premier League squad.
The 29-year-old is a tough defender and he would certainly do a job for Aston Villa as they aim to get back into the top flight.
As well as being a capable right-back, he could also play further forward as a right-midfielder. This provides Aston Villa with great versatility and a player that could take over successfully from Alan Hutton.
Italian capped Schelotto showed last season what an important player he can be for a team and with Aston Villa short of defensive cover, he would not only be a welcome addition but one that would improve their current team.
