Aston Villa fans will be confused by their recent run of form. Indeed, as they’ve gone from struggling to ensure consistency to securing a thumping victory, one thing they will be pleased about is the fact that their play-off pursuit is now back on track. At long, long last. Finally – for everyone involved at Villa – the Dean Smith project looks like its working.
Interestingly, it appears as if Dean Smith has his eyes on a possible summer swoop, as according to Football Insider, Aston Villa are plotting a move for Queens Park Rangers defender Toni Leistner.
What’s the News?
It’s believed that the Villans and Cardiff City are plotting moves for Toni Leistner, after witnessing his impressive performances at Loftus Road in the current campaign.
And, it’s understood that Aston Villa have made bringing in defensive reinforcements one of their top priorities, with an offer of around £5 million possibly tempting QPR into selling him.
Many fans will still be thinking about their side’s last result in the Championship as they showed glimpses of their performances last season, which certainly provided a lot of excitement.
The Villans have been vulnerable in the defensive third in the current campaign as John Terry’s step up to coaching left them with a huge void to fill, and James Chester’s absence certainly doesn’t help.
Toni Leistner, who is valued at £1.8 million (by Transfermarkt), definitely looks like the type of player that could bring a sense of security to the heart of the defence at Villa Park, as he’s strong, calm on the ball and most importantly, he knows how to keep things tight.
Aston Villa fans, do you believe that Leistner can strengthen your defence? Join the discussion by commenting below.
