Aston Villa

Aston Villa really should look to re-sign these 2 players this summer

Aston Villa fans here in the Tavern are feeling extremely confident about their promotion chances, with the play-offs looking like the only option from here on in.

Steve Bruce will be disappointed that his side missed out on an automatic promotion place this season, after failing to make the most of a promising position earlier on in the current campaign.

However, supporters would love nothing more than to greet promotion with some top-class signings in the summer, as the club may look to offer a couple of former players a second chance at Villa Park.

Villa will need to ring in the changes no matter what the outcome of their season may be, as they’ve been far from perfect in the current campaign. But, with a manager like Steve Bruce calling the shots at this moment in time, you can guarantee that he’ll bring a few wise heads to the club in the summer.

Therefore, Aston Villa should look to re-sign these TWO players in the summer…

Marc Albrighton

The 28-year-old grew up playing his football at Aston Villa and even enjoyed his breakthrough at the club, before moving to Leicester City in 2014 after losing his way in the side.

Many of our local residents would love to welcome the Englishman back to Villa Park in the summer transfer window, having seen how effective their side has been in wide areas so far this season. And, with Marc Albrighton having arguably the best time of his footballing career at the King Power Stadium, the summer would be the ideal time for the Villains to make a move.

Encouragingly, the Foxes have looked to swap him out of their starting lineup at times this season with Demarai Gray knocking on the door, which can only be seen as a positive thing for Villa as they may look to snap him up.

Ciaran Clark

Ciaran Clark made over 130 appearances for the Villains during his time in the Midlands as he established himself as one their best defenders in recent years, with many of our local residents wanting to see him back at Villa Park in the summer.

The Republic of Ireland international will forever be remembered as a hero after eight successful years at the club, with a number of accomplished performances helping them ensure their Premier League safety on a number of different occasions.

And, having been used as a last resort at Newcastle United so far this season, perhaps Villa could look to lure the defender back to his old stomping ground in the summer transfer window.
