Aston Villa receive a potentially massive injury blow ahead of Middlesbrough clash – report

Aston Villa fans in the Transfer Tavern will be confident that their side can progress to the final of the play-offs after a strong performance in the first-leg.

The Villans beat Middlesbrough 1-0 at The Riverside Stadium with a headed goal from Mile Jedinak enough to seal the win. Steve Bruce’s side will be delighted to take an advantage to Villa Park, however, they could also be without one key man for the second-leg.

Ahmed Elmohamady had to leave the field in the second half with what appeared to be a hamstring injury and his manager has confirmed that he will be a big doubt for the second leg via the club’s official website. The Egypt international has been a key man for Bruce throughout his managerial career and his absence will be felt by the club.

Landlord’s Verdict

The Aston Villa locals in the Tavern will be hoping the experienced full-back will be available for their biggest game of the season.

The absence of Elmohamady could provide their opponents with an opportunity to get back into the game, however, the Midland’s outfit should have enough players to be able to cover the position and ensure that they qualify for the play-off final at Wembley.
