Aston Villa will look ahead to their fixture with Derby County at the weekend and hope to keep their slim chances of an automatic promotion alive, and the fans in the Transfer Tavern will be pleased with the latest injury news.
John Terry has missed the last three games with an ankle injury he picked up against Norwich City earlier in the month, however, he returned to training earlier this week. The 37-year-old was left out of their victory against Ipswich but should be available for their clash with the Rams.
Speaking with the Express and Star, Villa’s assistant manager Colin Calderwood revealed that the skipper was available for the game with the Tractor Boys but felt it was best that he had some more training under his belt.
“John had two or three days’ training,” he told the Express and Star.
“He could have played but we can give him more training which will help toward the game next week.”
The Chelsea legend has become vital to the Villans’ push for a Premier League promotion and has also helped to aid the development of some of the club’s key prospects, including the likes of Jack Grealish.
The Villa locals in the Tavern will be delighted with the return of Terry just as they approach the final few games of the season and will be pleased to have him ready for an expected playoff charge. The punters will be hoping his experience can help them achieve their aims and that he will remain at the club next season.
