Many Aston Villa fans have put blame on referee Kevin Friend ahead of the Premier League potentially ending through a points-per-game system.
Dean Smith’s side find themselves sat 19th in the Premier League table and in desperate need of some points when and if the football season resumes.
Despite plans to restart the 2019/2020 season, various claims have now developed in media outlets claiming that a PPG system could determine the end of the current campaign, with the Football Association reported to have told the Premier League that the season must finish on ‘sporting merit’.
Villa, who have a game in hand over their relegation rivals, came narrowly close to gaining some impressive results prior to the postponement in fixtures due to the recent pandemic.
Do you think Aston Villa will stay up?
One of those results that seems to stick out in the mind of Claret and Blue fans is the decision by referee Jonathan Moss not to award a penalty to Villa during the 3-2 defeat to Arsenal in the first half of the season, whilst other Villa fans will have Friend’s decision against Palace in their heads when he controversially ruled out a late equaliser for Smith’s men.
Reacting to a tweet from a Villa fan on Twitter claiming that Friend’s call could send them down, fans looked back on that decision and shared their reaction…
That Kevin Friend decision at Palace away is going to send us down.

If it does I imagine he’ll probably never referee another villa game in his life, for his own safety

We love clutching at straws Imagine we even held on here for a point … not seeing games out is our problem pic.twitter.com/7OcQrllhLE

I thought this at the time. The consequences of that disgraceful decision just got a little closer.

Should of beat Utd away, Arsenal away, Tottenham away. Issues are the defensive side of the team can’t keep their concentration with 20 minutes to go. Destiny is not in our hands anymore so we’ll have to see wha happens.

Along with all the other dropped points due to the inability to defend set piece.
