Aston Villa reportedly prepared to spark deadline day flurry of activity

Our Aston Villa fans here in the Transfer Tavern are hoping Steve Bruce has some late deals up his sleeve and, according to The Daily Mail, they might just be about to see some.

The Villans have had a better time of it in recent months under their current manager and will be hoping to build momentum to get them into the play-offs by the end of the year.

You get the feeling they could do with some extra players, though, and that could be going to happen over the coming hours – though there may be players on their way too.

In particular, this report is suggesting that the club are willing to sell Ashley Westwood to Burnley for £5 million before offering Brentford £9 million for their striker Scott Hogan.

Hogan has been one of the leading strikers in the Championship this season and such a move would underline Villa’s massive draw that still exists even in the second tier.

It would also allow Westwood to play in the Premier League once again – somewhere our landlord feels his talent belongs.
