Aston Villa should be going all out to sign this top class Championship striker

Aston Villa endured a bit of a miserable season in the Championship last year, with Steve Bruce managing to steady the ship somewhat but come nowhere near mounting a promotion push.

Despite their huge investment in the squad, the players ultimately failed to deliver, and the Villa fans here in the Tavern are slightly anxious heading into the next campaign, worrying if it’s going to be a similar story once more.

Our landlord though thinks that the Villans aren’t too far off mounting a serious challenge for the top few places in the league, and one player he thinks the club could look to add is Nottingham Forest striker Britt Assombalonga.

The pacey and powerful former Peterborough man has looked superb at times, and if he can avoid injury and keep his form, he is comfortably one of the best strikers in the division on his day.

Assombalonga could form a lethal partnership with Jonathan Kodjia, who was one of few success stories at Villa Park last season.

Forest will want to keep hold of their star man, but money can talk in the Championship, and with Forest struggling at the wrong end of the table last season, he could well be willing to make the jump over to Villa Park.

Villa fans, what do you think? Would this be a good signing? Let us know!
