Aston Villa are quickly trying to progress a number of deals having seen no new arrivals join the club as of yet this window.

Steve Bruce would surely like some new talent to re-energise the squad, having lost in the play-off final last year which is certainly a demoralising experience.

They had a talented squad last year but they failed at the last hurdle, something that still hurts to this day. However, this season can't be spent thinking about what could have happened, meaning Villa should go out into the transfer market and ensure failure isn't possible again.

A player who could bring a lot to Villa Park is West Ham's Edimilson Fernandes, who is valued at £4.5 million on Transfermarkt.

The 22-year-old featured in 14 Premier League appearances last year and ever since joining the Hammers has been a versatile player they can count on. Yes, he hasn't set the world on fire but with the ability to play as a wing-back on either side or preferably in his normal central-midfield position, Villa would similarly benefit from a player who has an abundance of talent.

Fernandez just missed out on the Swiss national squad for the World Cup this summer, something that alone proves he isn't a bad player and given the opportunity, he could justify his worthiness and ability in the Championship with Villa.

Edimilson Fernandes has shown glimpses of his true potential whilst with the Hammers but with the appeal of regular first-team action with Aston Villa, the Swiss midfielder could relish and improve a lot as a player, greatly benefitting Villa in the process.

Would Fernandes be a good signing for Villa... Let us know!
