Aston Villa have to start preparing for the Premier League considering their march towards to the play-offs this season. To that end, Joe Lolley proved what he’s capable of at Villa Park earlier this term, and they should snatch him up to replace Andre Green.
The Sun claimed a fair while ago now that Villa were preparing to approach Nottingham Forest for their right winger in the summer. He’s impressed since arriving at the City Ground last January, scoring nine and assisting 10 from 47 appearances this season.
Villa’s own Andre Green has played well so far, but he’s certainly not Premier League standard and that’s where the club hope to be next season. The Villans need a signing down the left, anyway, with Albert Adomah 31-years-old already.
26-year-old Lolley wreaked havoc at Villa Park when he played there earlier this season. His wonder goal and four assists must have had the Villa faithful jealous they didn’t possess such right-wing talent. Now they have the chance to in the summer.
Martin O’Neill’s Forest have collapsed over the past few months and it’s not sure how long the manager will last. With the two clubs in polar opposite situations, it’s hard to see why the Englishman wouldn’t want to join a team that could be in the Premier League next season.
It’s vital Villa sign Lolley this summer to prevent uncertainty on that side of the pitch, but it’s also a signing that would take Villa up to the next level, whether that be in the Premier League or another hunt for promotion next season.
