Aston Villa's season threatens to be derailed with the news of Tammy Abraham moving away from the club despite his immense form for Dean Smith's men this term.

The Villans will be hoping to act quick in the January window to replace the outgoing Abraham, and there are plenty of strikers out there who Villa might feel can aptly fill the void left by the now departed Chelsea loanee.

We at the Tavern think signing a forward is crucial for Villa if they are to continue their good form under their new manager, and one man we feel would be a superb addition is current Sunderland striker Josh Maja.

The 14-goal striker has been in immense form for the Black Cats this term, firing them into promotion contention with a host of excellent performances to further enhance what is already a glowing reputation in the game.

Maja is expected to move away from Sunderland in the coming months owing to his contract situation with the club, and we feel Villa would be wise to swoop for the young striker ahead of their rivals if they can.

Quick, powerful, and with a proven eye for goal already, Maja would indeed be a superb addition for the Villans if they can convince Sunderland to part ways with their key man before his contract runs down in the summer.

Villa fans, what do you think? Good signing? Let us know in the comments!
