Aston Villa's season is still a poor one on the whole, as new manager Dean Smith struggles to get things right in his opening few weeks at the club.

The Villans will be desperate for Januar to come around, and surely at the top of the agenda will be signing a new defender, with the Villans having a gaping hole at centre half this term following the retirement of John Terry.

There are a few defenders out there though who would be tempted with a move to Villa Park, and we think Villa are still an attractive proposition.

That's why we here at the Tavern think that signing Reading defender Liam Moore could be a shrewd move by the club.

The former Leicester City man, who is valued at a cool £6.3m by Transfermarkt, has been a consistent performer for the Royals in a team which has otherwise struggled in the main.

There is though, little doubting Moore's ability to perform, whether that be at Championship or Premier League level, and Moore would surely jump at the chance of a move to Villa with Reading in serious trouble.

At just 25, Moore has the chance to further develop and could well see the chance to shine at Villa as the ideal career move. A good defender on the whole, with good pace and ability on the ball, Moore would be the ideal sort of signing for Smith and Villa.

Villa fans, what do you think? Would Moore be a good signing? Let us know in the comments!
