Serie A side Juventus are interested in signing Aston Villa goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini as a potential replacement for Gianluigi Buffon when he retires.
The news filtering in from Italian outlet CalcioMercato has not been welcomed warmly by the resident Villa fans here in the Transfer Tavern, as Gollini has been one of the few good things for them to cheer about so far this season.
The young Italian is on a shortlist of promising goalkeepers the club are looking at for when Buffon hangs up his gloves, with the likes of Gianluigi Donnarumma also on the list.
Gollini has been a mainstay in the Villa side so far this season, racking up eleven appearances as they look to return to the Premier League at the first time of asking, and new manager Steve Bruce will have to decide whether he will stick with him or not for the rest of the campaign.
Our landlord here in the Tavern actually isn’t so sure about Gollini, and thinks that he looks somewhat shaky when balls are crossed into the box, and thinks that Mark Bunn should be the number one at Villa Park!
Meanwhile, Steve Bruce was appointed last week after Roberto Di Matteo’s sacking, and the Villa fans here in the Tavern have high hopes for the former Hull City gaffer!
