Our Aston Villa fans here in the Transfer Tavern are very excited about what their club could do this season in the Championship.
The men from Villa Park got the campaign up and running with a draw against Hull City and, though a win was the obvious aim, the performance was pretty strong.
For sure, then, the club is aiming to get a win under their belts soon and it’s probably likely that Steve Bruce will be aiming to get his side some new players before the transfer window shuts.
The market comes to a close in just over three week’s time and Bruce will surely have it in mind that the club could do with two or three extra additions.
However, one man that is looking unlikely to join the club is Ryan Kent with The Birmingham Mail saying the Villa target is looking set to stay at Liverpool.
Indeed, Jurgen Klopp has been hinting at that and said recently – as quoted by the report:
“Ryan Kent, I’ve known him for one-and-a-half years and last year he developed unbelievably well and this pre-season is completely different to last pre-season, he’s completely showed up now.”
Kent, then, won’t be going to Villa by the looks of things and the club will have to try and find another tricky winger to sign.
Kent has impressed at Championship level before in his early career and would have likely been an important player for Villa if he’d signed.
However, Jurgen Klopp seems to think he is ready for more first-team action with the Reds and so the Villans are going to have to move on.
