Aston Villa fans here in the Tavern will be praying that their side can push for promotion once again next season, but their current financial troubles appear to be holding them back.
Sadly, the Villains haven’t enjoyed the best of times since missing out on promotion to the Premier League via the play-off, as the Midlands club may be forced into selling some of their star players. And, it looks as their current financial troubles are beginning to have a negative impact on potential signings, as according to the Mirror, Steve Bruce has been told that Aston Villa can’t even afford free transfers while they are in financial crisis.
Interestingly, Steve Bruce has identified Robert Huth, available after leaving Leicester City, as John Terry’s replacement. However, Villa cannot currently finalise the contract leaving Bruce with major woes ahead of the club’s return to pre-season training next week.
Therefore, many of our local residents are hoping that Dr Tony Xia can find new investment or a new owner for the Championship side after their play-off heartbreak.
So, it looks as if Villa may head into the new season looking worse for wear if they fail to secure any signings due to their current financial troubles. And, having seen how influential John Terry was in the last campaign, it’s worrying times for the Villains as they’ll want to welcome Robert Huth to the club as soon as possible.
