Aston Villa suffering injury pile-up as sluggish start to season continues

Our Aston Villa fans here in the Transfer Tavern cannot wait for their side to get back to their winning ways in the Championship this season.

The men from Villa Park have not had the best start to the campaign with a draw and a loss to Hull City and Cardiff City respectively.

Indeed, a point from a possible six is really not what the club need to try and challenge at the top of the table and so Steve Bruce will be eager for a quick response against Reading tomorrow.

The Royals themselves have not started well this year with just a point themselves to show from their first two games this tie at the Madejski is set to be very important.

For Villa, though, there is already a bit of an injury pile up going on – as per The Birmingham Mail – with Andre Green and Ahmed Elmohamady out of contention for the game alongside long-term injury issues Jonathan Kodjia, Jack Grealish and Mile Jedinak.

Elmohamady was the latest player to pick up an injury with a nasty looking blow to the mouth at the weekend and so it remains to be seen just who Bruce plays instead.

Landlord’s Verdict

Villa have not had the best of starts to the campaign and they’ll be looking to try and get a morale boosting win over Reading this week.

If they can do that, then, they’ll likely be able to start building some momentum but there can be no doubt that the injuries building up will have some impact.
