A place in the play-offs really did not look like a possibility for Aston Villa at one stage, however, a run of fine form has seen Dean Smith’s side firmly in the mix at this late part of the campaign.
A match against Blackburn Rovers at Villa Park awaits them on Saturday and the Villans could not be in a better place to continue their assault on obtaining a place in the top-six with the news that has emerged ahead of kickoff.
What’s the News?
According to the club’s official website, Tammy Abraham, Axel Tuanzebe and Henri Lansbury are all available for the match.
Abraham had been a doubt after withdrawing from the England Under-21 side earlier in the week, however, he managed to fully train whilst Tuanzebe and Lansbury have both managed to recover from foot and hamstring issues respectively.
The trio’s return will come as great news for Smith and Aston Villa as they enter the final stretch of the season and look to secure themselves a play-off spot.
There would have been real fears regarding Abraham’s possible unavailability as he has been their talisman, alongside Jack Grealish, as he has been the man to get the goals for the Villans and put them in the position that they currently find themselves in.
The on-loan Chelsea forward has netted 21 times so far and will likely play an instrumental role in trying to obtain promotion, as will Tuanzebe.
The Manchester United loanee was excellent in defence before his foot injury forced him to sit out on the sidelines since December. His return will come as a boost as, although the club’s recent run of form may suggest otherwise, there have been some concerns at the back.
Smith did address some of those in January with additions, however, having Tuanzebe back in the fold will be welcomed news by the manager as it will give him some favourable squad decisions to make.
