Aston Villa will travel to Pride Park to meet high-flying Derby County on Saturday afternoon as they look to get their own Championship campaign on track.
Dean Smith’s side will head into the final game before the international break looking to make it back-to-back wins after defeating Bolton Wanderers last week.
Birkir Bjarnason has been declared fit and available for selection after he had to miss the game against the Trotters with a groin problem he picked up in the defeat to Queens Park Rangers a fortnight ago.
Smith has also confirmed that he has no fresh injury concerns, so he could look to play the same side that recorded the victory against Bolton, whilst revealing Jack Grealish will continue to play.
With the Second City Derby coming up, the midfielder is just one yellow card away from being suspended, and should he receive it in the game at Pride Park, he will be unavailable for the home contest against Birmingham later in the month.
Bjarnason’s availability will have come as a huge boost to Aston Villa and Smith as they look to try and get a winning run together for the first time since the opening two games in the Championship.
Despite having a number of central midfielders in the team, the Iceland international offers the Villans an extra option that the manager could look to use.
It may be a risk to play Grealish in the game against the Rams, with the player just one caution away from suspension, however, it is felt he will need to play if the Villa Park outfit are to get anything from the game against Derby.
