Aston Villa will look to stop the rot when they host Bolton Wanderers on Friday night at Villa Park.
Dean Smith has seen his side lose their last two Championship fixtures after he saw his side victorious against Swansea City in his first match in charge since taking over.
The former Brentford manager has been happy with the performances from his team, however, he will now be expecting his side to start converting those displays into three points.
Bolton will pose Villa with a tough test, as both sides find themselves in a similar position in the table, something that Smith will want to take advantage of.
The Icelandic midfielder suffered a groin injury in the defeat to Queens Park Rangers and was forced to leave the pitch in the first half.
“This game will come too quickly for BB. He’s not been out on the training fields yet so he will have to recover,” he said.
However, he revealed that Albert Adomah and Yannick Bolasie are closing in on returns to the first-team.
Villa will want to pick up the three points against Bolton in what is likely to be a packed crowd at Villa Park.
The absence of Birnarson will be frustrating for Smith as the midfielder plays a crucial role for the side and will be considered a huge blow to how they play.
The Iceland international had started to form a solid partnership with John McGinn in the middle of the pitch, however, that relationship will now have to be put on ice for the time being.
However, the Villans will have been boosted by the fact that Adomah and Bolasie are both in contention for the game as they look to start their ascent up the Championship table.
