Aston Villa will host Derby County at Villa Park on Saturday afternoon as the English Championship fixtures come thick and fast.
The Villans are winless in their last five matches, having suffered two defeats in that period and Dean Smith will want to put that record right against Frank Lampard’s playoff hopefuls.
Aston Villa harbour their own hopes of achieving Premier League football next season and a win against the Rams will help them close the gap between them and the top six.
And, according to the club’s official website, it appears they could be in a good position to pick up a positive result.
Lovre Kalinic is back available for selection after missing the last two matches with a concussion.
The Croatia international goalkeeper was hurt during their West Midland’s derby defeat to West Bromwich Albion and was kept on the substitutes bench when they met Stoke City last weekend as Jed Steer continued to deputise.
Jack Grealish is also available after he managed to come through a full weeks worth of training without any setbacks, as did Tom Carroll.
The fact that Kalinic, Grealish and Carroll are all available for Smith will come as hugely positive news for Aston Villa.
The trio will all likely play key roles for The Villans in the final stages of the season and the club will be pleased to be able to call upon them.
Grealish’s return, arguably, will be the most exciting as the club have looked lost without his creativity and ability in the middle of the field and will be delighted to have him back pulling the strings at Villa Park.
