Aston Villa will head to the bet365 Stadium on Saturday afternoon when they take on Stoke City in the Championship.
Dean Smith’s side come into the match without a win in their last four matches, with a 2-0 defeat to West Midlands rivals West Bromwich Albion in their previous outing.
The Villans will want to take advantage of the position that Stoke find themselves in, as they struggle near the bottom of the Championship.
However, they have some potentially concerning news heading into the game as one of Smith’s main players could join a number of others in being unavailable.
According to a match preview by Sky Sports, Lovre Kalinic remains a doubt for the away trip with a head injury.
The Croatia international took a knock to the head in the game against West Brom and has been undergoing the ‘concussion protocol’ at the club.
Tom Carroll continues to miss out with a hip problem, whilst Axel Tuanzebe (foot), Henri Lansbury (hamstring) and Jack Grealish all remain on the sidelines.
To make matters worse for Aston Villa, John McGinn is also suspended for the game after he picked up his tenth yellow card of the campaign.
Kalinic’s doubtfulness may come as a potentially huge blow to Smith and Aston Villa as they look to try and end their winless streak against Stoke.
The goalkeeper has started to adapt to the English game and has started to put in some solid performances.
McGinn’s absence will also come as a huge blow to the side as he has been an important figure within the team, especially with Grealish struggling to overcome his injury concerns.
