Aston Villa’s 6-1 Carabao Cup win against Crewe Alexandra gave some of the club’s fringe players the chance to show what they can do.
One such man who Dean Smith used for the game was Henri Lansbury, who had been left on the bench for each of the club’s first three league matches, as per Transfermarkt.
The 28-year-old certainly took his opportunity to impress, with this sublime piece of skill, which Aston Villa tweeted to remind fans of the brilliance involved:

This wasn’t even his only goal contribution of the game, as he ended up with a hat-trick of assists, as per SofaScore.
While this may not be enough to get him into the Villa team, due to the high level of competition in the midfield following the arrival of Douglas Luiz and Marvelous Nakamba, it has certainly acted as a reminder that he can fulfil his role with quality when called upon.
His whole performance was eye-catching, as signified by the fact he was given a rating of 9 and named Man of the Match by 7500 to Holte, but this moment was definitely the best of the lot.
