Despite being in his debut season for Aston Villa, it would seem Trezeguet has admirers that are interested in making him their’s in the summer.
According to a report by Fotospor, Besiktas are looking to bring the Egypt international back to Turkey less than 12 months after he left fellow Istanbul-based outfit Kasimpasa.
As mentioned, Trezeguet is yet to complete a whole season in England having joined The Villans in the summer of 2019 for a transfer fee said to have been £8.75m (per BBC).
Indeed, the winger appears to have gone on to become an integral member of Dean Smith’s side whilst they look to navigate a tricky first year back in the Premier League as the 25-year-old has gone on to play 24 times in the top-flight, bagging himself three goals and two assists in the process (per TransferMarkt).
In the competition, the Egyptian has looked to be a threat for the Villans’ attack, although perhaps has left a little to be desired at times with an average WhoScored rating of 6.57. In those fixtures, he has managed to achieve a 1.5 shots per game average, whilst also providing just shy of a key pass every match (0.8), whilst his control of the ball can let him down with a figure of 2.2.
Depending on how the season were to come to an end and what division Aston Villa were to find themselves playing their football in, it might be a little difficult to see a deal for Trezeguet to leave Villa Park so quickly after joining them happen.
With Smith clearly appearing to favour the Egyptian as one of his go-to attacking options, albeit perhaps from the bench (46% starting XI per TransferMarkt), a return to Turkey may only happen if Besiktas were to stump up the same kind of money The Villans did last summer.
