The January window may have just closed but it appears Aston Villa are already looking to the summer transfer window.
According to a report by The Sun, Swansea City’s Mike van der Hoorn is thought to be on the Championship outfit’s radar.
The Villans are understood to have been told by the Welsh club that it would have cost them £10million in the winter.
However, with the Dutch defender’s contract up in the summer, they could look to bring him to Villa Park on a free transfer.
Dean Smith managed to add Tom Carroll to his side from Swansea and came close to landing Leroy Fer as well from The Swans on Deadline Day.
Van der Hoorn would be an excellent addition to the Aston Villa squad in the summer, however, they surely would have liked to have him in their ranks immediately.
The defence has been a problem area for the Villa Park outfit this season, with the number of injuries and lack of personnel in the side.
However, £10m may have been considered to steep for a player who has just six months left on his current deal and signing him on a free transfer is a more attractive proposition.
