The Aston Villa fans within the Transfer Tavern are encouraged by the team’s recent performances and that promotion to the Premier League could well still be an achievable goal.
Villa’s rollercoaster season has continued that way until the very end and the Villans are set to try their luck at the play-offs in order to return to the top flight. Alike most teams around them, should they go up or not, they need some new faces this summer to improve their chances next season.
Our punters have been debating for a long while now about who they would like to see arrive at Villa Park and one name kept recurring.
A player that seems to have a bleak future is West Ham’s Sam Byram, a versatile right-sided player who is valued at £4.05 million on Transfermarkt. His Hammers career has been very much stop-start and continuously gets set back by injuries. That has again occurred this season as Byram has been limited to just 5 Premier League appearances.
On his day, West Ham are well aware of the quality he possesses but ever since his eagerly anticipated move from Leeds in 2016, Byram has struggled to establish himself as a regular for the Hammers.
Aston Villa would be very smart to take advantage of his unfortunate situation at West Ham because firstly he can play adequately as a right-back or right-midfielder. This is certainly a desirable asset to have a player who is capable of performing well in more than one position. Secondly, Byram never has and never will be scared of putting in a tackle and he will guarantee to give whoever he is playing for 100%.
Wherever Aston Villa find themselves next season, signings will be a big important part of their campaign.
