Aston Villa’s £2.7m-rated international delivers optimistic play-off assessment – report

Aston Villa are guaranteed to finish fourth in the Championship this season and fans in the Transfer Tavern will be looking forward to seeing who they will meet in the play-offs.

The Villans already know it will be between Derby County – who Villa drew 1-1 with at the weekend – or Middlesbrough, as the two sides battle it out for fifth.

According to the Derby Telegraph, Ahmed Elmohamady (valued at £2.7 million by Transfermarkt) is not concerned with who they will face and is confident his side will reach Wembley for the final.

“We have another tough game to finish the season (away to Millwall) and then we’re looking forward to the play-offs, whoever we’re going to play,” he told the Derby Telegraph.

“We’re up for it.

“Will others want to avoid us? Of course. It’s always tough for teams to come and play at Villa Park.

“It will be a good way to finish the season if we can make the final and get back to the Premier League. That’s what we all want.

“The semi-final is two games. It looks like we will play away first, which gives us a better chance, I think.

“Then we can come back to Villa Park and it will be another game like this one.

“We have enough experienced players in the team to get through.”

Landlord’s Verdict

Aston Villa fans in the Tavern will be encouraged by the Egypt international’s comments about their chances in the play-offs and will be hoping things go as well as he believes they will. Villa will not be short of confidence and will relish any challenge put ahead of them.
