Aston Villa fans in the Transfer Tavern will be desperate to see their side be promoted to the Premier League at the end of the season, not just because that’s where they feel they belong, but to be able to keep hold of a key player.
According to reports in the Birmingham Mail, John Terry’s future at the Villans still remains in the air, although should the club be in England’s top-flight next year, then he could be set to stay.
The Chelsea legend has been rumoured to have been offered a coaching position at Stamford Bridge, however, the club’s director of football Steve Round believes he will stay with them at Villa Park should they achieve their aims. The locals in the Tavern will be hoping their team can convince the former England captain to extend his time in Birmingham as he has become a firm fan-favourite in the short time he has been there.
Should Steve Bruce’s side fail to win promotion, it would seem very unlikely they’ll be able to keep Terry, considering his huge wages and the strict Financial Fair Play guidelines that are in place.
Aston Villa fans in the Tavern will be wary of the club’s form heading into the backend of the season and look as if they will have to go through the playoffs if they were to try and win promotion to the Premier League. Supporters will be desperate to keep Terry, however, it may appear unlikely at this moment.
Aston Villa fans, do you feel you can keep Terry at the club if you do not get promoted? Let us know below!
