Aston Villa fans here in the Tavern are still yet to get over the heartbreak of defeat in the Championship play-off final, as Fulham proved to be too strong at the home of English football.
The Villains started the season poorly but soon picked up the pace and ended up securing a play-off place, but they just couldn’t find a way past Fulham in the play-off final.
Villa’s promotion push next season will all depend on how they recruit this summer and whether they can resolve their current managerial situation.
Of course, with the current financial troubles that Villa are facing, June has the potential to be a nightmare month for the Midlands club.
So, June could turn out to be one of the worst months in the club’s history if these TWO things happen…
Jack Grealish waves goodbye
Jack Grealish has found a place in many supporter’s hearts as Aston Villa’s golden boy over the years. And, his performances last season single-handedly helped Villa reach the play-off final at Wembley.
However, it’s understood that the Englishman is currently receiving interest from a number of Premier League club’s that include Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United.
Losing Grealish would definitely cause for a pandemonium amongst fans here in the Tavern, with June possibly being remembered for all the wrong reasons.
Failing to replace players
Sadly, Aston Villa had to say goodbye to John Terry, while Robert Snodgrass and Lewis Grabban returned to their parent clubs.
All three players played a huge part in Villa’s push for promotion in the season just gone, so it’s vital that they look to force through permanent deals for the loan duo or weigh up alternatives. Although, with Villa’s current financial troubles, it looks as if they won’t be splashing the cash any time soon.
So, with things going from bad to worse for the Villains, June could go down as one of the worst months in the club’s history.
