Brendan Rodgers leading the race for Aston Villa job

Aston Villa sacked Steve Bruce earlier this week and a number of names have since been linked with the vacant role at Villa Park.

The Villans are struggling in the Championship and have won just one match in their last ten competitive fixtures.

The new owners are keen to see things turn around pretty sharpish and if reports are to be true, it appears they could be looking at an experienced individual to lead that charge.

According to The Sun, Celtic’s Brendan Rodgers is thought to be leading the race to become the new manager at Aston Villa.

The current Bhoys manager is thought to be under some intense pressure himself as things have not been going too well for the Scottish Premiership champions themselves this season either.

The Villans are keen for someone to get them back into the Premier League and want a safe pair of hands at the helm, something Rodgers could look to offer.

The Verdict:

Aston Villa have been linked with a number of names in the last couple of days since Bruce’s sacking and it is becoming difficult to keep up with.

Rodgers would be considered a great option for the Championship outfit, although it remains to be seen if he will leave Celtic Park for a return back to England.

However, it could be the perfect time for Villa to move for the Northern Irishman, as his own relationship with the Scottish Premiership champions starts to become strained.
