Aston Villa are currently suffering from a financial crisis that has affected their plans for the upcoming Championship season.
Steve Bruce’s side have been suffering from the fallout of their Play-Off defeat to Fulham and will need to look to slash the costs surrounding the club to help ease the pressure from Financial Fair Play rules.
The club have been preparing themselves for a number of offers for their star players this summer, with the likes of Jack Grealish, Jonathan Kodjia and James Chester all rumoured to be gathering plenty of interest.
The Villans are also thought to be in a position whereby they are unable to bring players to Villa Park on free transfers due to their situation, however, Bruce has already been making plans with reports stating that one man has joined them for training.
Despite not being in a position to make an offer for the free agent, Bruce is hoping that the sale of his players will be able to help him release funds.
Marney would be a solid signing for the club in their time of need, with a number of their stars leaving the club, including the experienced heads.
The 34-year-old has plenty of knowledge and would definitely help Bruce’s side should he be over his injury concerns, including the serious cruciate knee injury in January 2017.
