Aston Villa took a big step backwards under Steve Bruce but they’ve already announced his successor Dean Smith, who will be looking to take them forward.
The Villains would have been hoping to secure promotion to the Premier League after the heartache of last season’s play-off final, but they now face an uphill task after a very disappointing run of matches.
Indeed, the Midlands club looked very uninspired under the guidance of Steve Bruce, so hopefully a managerial change will freshen things up at the club.
So, they’ll already be looking forward to the January transfer window, with a number of impressive additions being required in what will be a long, tiring Championship campaign.
With that in mind, Aston Villa will secure promotion if these TWO stars join…
Ollie Watkins has established himself as one of the hottest prospects in English football over the past season, with a goal and an assist never to far away at Griffin Park.
However, the Englishman was linked with a move away during the summer transfer window and will no doubt attract even more attention during the month of January.
So, Dean Smith should look to use his links at Brentford to bring the attacker to the club in January, as he has the potential to challenge for an England call-up in the future and could help them ensure promotion.
Liam Moore has always been able to ensure consistency at the heart of the defence for Reading, but his teammates have often let him down in recent times.
Indeed, the central defender always puts his life on the line and is an experienced leader at the back for the Royals, even though he is only 25. And, with the Villains still missing the presence of John Terry next to James Chester in defence, perhaps Moore’s leadership qualities can help Villa rediscover ensure defensive solidity.
