Di Matteo ready to axe Aston Villa flop to land another PL skipper

It’s been a busy few days at Villa Park as Roberto Di Matteo continues to build his new-look side for the season and for those Villa supporters in the Transfer Tavern, they’ve barely had time to enjoy their pints!

And this time, news is circulating that Aston Villa are ready to offload Ashley Westwood to Burnley in order to fund a move for Crystal Palace captain Mile Jedinak, according to the Mirror.

Westwood was part of Villa’s relegated squad and following the club’s 3-1 defeat to Luton Town on Wednesday evening, manager Roberto Di Matteo has stepped up his attempts to overhaul his squad.

Villa also lost their opening Championship fixture to Sheffield Wednesday and their manager will be hoping that Australian international Jedinak will be able to add some steel to a midfield that still looks a little limp.

Di Matteo’s side still remain one of the favourites for the title and he will be keen to ensure his side remain in the running, despite a poor start to the season.
