Our Aston Villa fans here in the Transfer Tavern are eager to see some good business done in the summer window as they look to get back into the Premier League at the end of 2017/18.
This season has seen them really learn about the Championship and so now the onus has to be on them to use those lessons to make sure they are back in the big time this time next year.
The first step towards that, then, is signing some quality players in the summer but, whilst we wait to see what happens in that regard, one player has been let go ahead of the new campaign.
Indeed, as per the club’s official site, Villa have confirmed that young versatile defender Niall Mason will has joined Doncaster Rovers on a permanent deal.
Mason had been at the League 2 side this season anyway, on loan, and it is now the case that he will be there for good from next season as they look to establish themselves in League 1.
Villa, meanwhile, will surely be looking to add an upgrade to the squad before too long.
