The Newcastle United fans are currently celebrating the signing of a new defender with a few pints of TT Ale at The Transfer Tavern bar.
The Championship side have confirmed that they have completed the signing of Aston Villa defender Ciaran Clark.
Clark has signed a five year deal at St James Park and joins the club for an undisclosed fee after opting to make the move North from Villa Park.
The 26-year-old was a regular for Aston Villa during their disappointing campaign that ended in relegation to the Championship last season.
He made over 150 appearances for the Midlands club over six seasons following his debut back in August 2009.
Speaking about the capture of Clark to the club’s official website, Newcastle manager Rafa Benitez said “Ciaran is a very versatile player, as a left-footed centre-back he can also play left-back and also as a defensive midfielder.
“He has a lot of experience of English football and will add good balance and competition to our squad.
“I am sure he will progress with us here at Newcastle, we are very happy for him to join us.”
Clark follows the likes of Matt Ritchie, Dwight Gayle and Grant Hanley through the doors of St James Park this summer with manager Rafa Benitez hopeful that the club can regain their top flight status at the first attempt come the end of the 2016/17 season.
