Aston Villa fans here in the Tavern are desperate for their side to earn promotion this season, as they’ll look to go all the way in the Championship play-offs.
Interestingly, the Villains managed to gather some momentum prior to the start of the Championship play-offs, as Steve Bruce has them playing some attractive football at a crucial point in their season. But, with many of our local residents expecting nothing less than Premier League football next season, the Villains will face an uphill task from here on in.
However, it appears as if Bruce is already looking to the summer transfer window, as Villa are believed to be eyeing a move for Sunderland’s George Honeyman. Although, the 23-year-old wouldn’t really add much to Villa’s squad in the summer, so they should look to raid the Black Cats for a different player.
With that in mind, Villa should look to land this Sunderland player instead of George Honeyman…
The former Manchester United youngster was one of Sunderland’s standout performers this season, as he managed to score five goals in 16 appearances from the middle of midfield.
Encouragingly, the 23-year-old has also established himself as a regular on the international stage for Northern Ireland. And, with previous Premier League experience and having shown he can deliver quality performances on a regular basis in the Championship, perhaps Villa should look to swap Paddy McNair for one of the ageing players in their midfield line this summer.
