Aston Villa will need to ensure they pick up some form with the team slowly slipping back down the Championship table.
Form and inconsistency is becoming a worrying issue for Dean Smith and his Villa side, with the team seemingly unable to keep their promotion bid intact.
However, with the Championship season still having plenty of games to play, there are still opportunities for Aston Villa to enjoy a turnaround in form and aspire to reach a promotion place.
To do that, they need to find defensive improvements that will help solidify their back-line.
In that case, Arsenal’s Carl Jenkinson could be a great option as a versatile player capable of playing in his normal position of right-back, as well as centre-back and left-back.
Jenkinson, (who is valued at £2.2 million on Transfermarkt) has played well enough for Arsenal when called upon this season, having been utilised in the Europa League with Arsenal thin on defensive cover themselves.
Carl Jenkinson has had a number of problematic years as his career has been very stop start due to recurring injuries.
Aston Villa though, could be the right transfer for the Englishman, in relation to getting more time on the pitch.
As a 26-year-old, ultimately, that will be exactly what he wants and with the power to play in a number of different positions, Dean Smith could find Jenkinson to be a very useful squad addition.
His contract with Arsenal is up at the end of the season, meaning that Aston Villa could recruit him on a loan deal now for example, with a view to agreeing a contract with Carl Jenkinson come the end of the season.
