Aston Villa fans have been in high spirits in the Transfer Tavern over the last few weeks after seeing their side return to form.
The Midlands giants began the new Championship season in sluggish fashion by failing to win any of their opening three games, but they have since then been resurgent and have thus propelled up the division.
Steve Bruce’s side have won five of their last eight league games and drawn the other three, moving them up to seventh in the league and very much into promotion contention as they seek a return to the Premier League following relegation back in 2016.
Yet one man who hasn’t been a part of Villa’s squad this term is defender Jordan Amavi, who back in August sealed a season-long loan move to French side Marseille in a bid to end his nightmare at the Midlands club.
The 23-year-old moved to Villa Park back in 2015 but has struggled to make a meaningful impact, and made way, albeit temporarily, during the summer as Bruce sought to overhaul his side.
And things have been going particularly well for the left-back in his homeland, and his career has hit a new height given that he has recently been called up to the France senior squad by manager Didier Deschamps, having impressed in his six appearances for Marseille this term.
And news of Amavi’s call-up stimulated quite a response from Villa fans on Twitter, with many surprised, while others wished him well…
Amavi in the French squad is the most sickening thing I’ve ever seen #AVFC

Happy for him. Wanted to gut it out in the Championship when many would have bottled it after the horror injury he had.

Good player. Seemed a bit soft for the Championship at times. Bit weak at defending. Glad it’s working out for him

He was destined for better things as will be Veretout and Gil. So much waste at our club with good players going on to better times

I always thought he was decent, but like so many players, we have released, they seem to improve, when they leave us,so what does that say
