Aston Villa supporters in the Transfer Tavern were left to drown their sorrows on Tuesday night after seeing their side knocked out of the Carabao Cup.
Steve Bruce’s men recorded just their second Championship win of the season on Saturday by easing past Barnsley 3-0 at Oakwell, in turn extending their unbeaten run to six games in all competitions.
However, any momentum they gained from those efforts came to an end on Tuesday as they lost 2-0 at home to Garry Monk’s Middlesbrough, with a Patrick Bamford brace enough to seal the North East outfit’s passage into the last 16.
That left some of our resident Villa fans frustrated after their side failed to continue their decent run of form, yet attentions are very much turning to their enormous clash with Nottingham Forest at Villa Park on Saturday.
Mark Warburton’s men have made a good start to the campaign with four wins from their opening eight league games, and will certainly give Villa a stern test on Saturday evening as both sides seek to climb the Championship table.
And several Villa fans took to Twitter in the aftermath of Tuesday’s defeat firmly looking ahead to the Forest encounter, which many feel could be judgement day for manager Bruce…
Beat Forest and tonight will soon be forgotten, don’t score for a 4th consecutive home game & Bruce will be under huge pressure! #AVFC

Bruce threw the game last night by putting that team out. Better hope you win on Saturday then, he does know how to pressure himself #avfc

Okay, last nights “efforts” didn’t go unnoticed. 11k turn out is sad to see.Bruce’s Saturday could define if he’s here long term or not #avfc

Can’t wait for the game Saturday. Forget about tonight and focus on Forest #avfc

Look at the coming fixtures, if Bruce fails to win the remaining 3 games this month, he should be gone. We have to gain some momentum #avfc

Bruce just needs to get “the sum of its parts” out of #avfc to get promoted. That would be enough. Hasn’t reached that level in a year.

If Villa don’t have a positive result on Saturday and Bruce blames the ‘hectic schedule’, he should be instantly sacked. #avfc

If I was Bruce I would have played exactly the same side, no complaints from me. League the priority for the club #avfc
