Aston Villa fans here in the Tavern are feeling anxious ahead of the Championship play-off final, as anything less than a victory will be seen as a disaster.
Villa will face Fulham at Wembley later on today in the Championship play-off final, with a place in the Premier League at stake. Indeed, losing at the final hurdle would be absolutely devastating for Steve Bruce and his players, as they have all worked very hard over the course of the current campaign.
But, there is room for improvement this summer without taking promotion into consideration, as a number of the club’s first-team players may be shipped out during the transfer window.
So, whether they’re playing their football in the Premier League next season or pushing for promotion in the Championship once again, the Villains will need to cut ties with these TWO flops ASAP…
The Republic of Ireland international has been a spectator in recent times as he often finds himself on the substitutes’ bench, as Bruce prefers to play the likes of Lewis Grabban and Jonathan Kodjia in his place.
So, having failed to have a positive impact on Aston Villa’s promotion push, the club should look to cut ties with the striker at the end of the season. And, having signed him for £12 million back in January of last year, perhaps the Villains will be able to generate a heap of transfer funds from selling him this summer.
The Englishman has had a season to forget as he continues to lean towards a summer transfer window exit.
Henri Lansbury has fallen heavily out of favour under Steve Bruce, as he has only managed to feature against the weaker sides or as an injury replacement.
So, with aims of securing promotion next season if they fail to do so later on today against Fulham, it’s safe to say that Lansbury won’t be a part of the club’s plans moving forward.
